Great Western Hotel Cardiff around 1975-80
The Great Western Hotel, Cardiff around 1975-80. Grade 2 listed. Opened around 1876 it was later known as The Old Monk, then from 2004 as The Bush Pig but has now reverted to The Great Western. The telephone box no longer exists. The building to the left (demolished before 2019) has the road name Saunders Road and the window states it is the Welsh Regional Office of the Spastics Society (later name change to Scope). The corner bar, facing us, is labelled Beer Kellar, Lowenbrau, Munich. In the background is a large advertising area and all adverts are for cigarettes and alcohol
